How to Get a Medical Marijuana Card in Vancouver, WA

4 min read·Green Wellness Team·April 22, 2026

Clark County, Washington has a unique advantage: patients are minutes from both Portland, Oregon's recreational market AND Washington State's medical cannabis program. While Oregon has its own medical program, Washington's authorization provides distinct benefits — including tax exemptions that can save Clark County patients 40–47% on cannabis purchases, higher possession limits, and home cultivation rights. Green Wellness Vancouver serves the entire Clark County area with same-day medical cannabis evaluations.

Oregon residents: am I eligible?

Washington State medical cannabis authorizations require Washington State residency. Oregon residents are not eligible for a Washington authorization. If you've recently moved to Clark County and have a Washington State ID, you are eligible — bring your WA ID to your appointment.

Why get a WA medical card if I live near Portland?

Washington's combined excise and sales taxes on recreational cannabis run approximately 40–47% in Clark County. A Washington medical authorization exempts you from those taxes on DOH-compliant products purchased at licensed WA dispensaries. Medical cardholders can also possess significantly more cannabis than recreational buyers and can grow up to 6 plants at home. For Clark County patients who use cannabis regularly, the annual savings are substantial.

Qualifying conditions

Washington recognizes chronic pain, PTSD, anxiety disorders, cancer, MS, epilepsy, Crohn's disease, glaucoma, Parkinson's disease, HIV/AIDS, ALS, and many other conditions. If you have a persistent qualifying condition, book an evaluation — our physicians give honest assessments with no pressure.

Telehealth renewals from Clark County

After your initial in-person evaluation, annual renewals are available via telehealth from anywhere in Washington — including Vancouver, Camas, or anywhere else in Clark County. Renewal appointments are $140 and take 15–30 minutes.
